2012 Fitness Goals

Strength & Stretching - Focus on doing SOMETHING every day. If all I can manage is a pushup, then do a push up. Work on core workout that Sempai Qualls gave me. Build core and back strength. Stong core = less back issues. Stretch all the time. Make a conscious effort to keep good posture at work, and get up often to keep neck and shoulders from hurting.

Running - Work on quality vs. quantity. Start out keeping runs shorter and building endurance again. Get fitness level to a place where there is a difference between my "slow" pace and my "normal" pace :) Long term - get to where I can run a 1/2 at any time. Be a better runner instead of just focusing on going farther, faster.

Swimming - Work on efficiency & breathing. Stay consistent. Build up to 1 mile swims.

Karate - Practice at home. These goals kind of overlap. Work on strength and endurance. Stay focused and learn.

Also, climb Mount LeConte and backpack at Roan Mountain. Mountain bike on the Virginia Creeper at least once.

Have fun!

Nutrition - Keep it simple!
more water - less pop (soda for you southerners)
more veggies - less processed food
more whole foods ie things recognized as food
food = fuel

  1. Sounds pretty much like my list....and the one I made last year, and the year before that....but the thing is, you never "fail" until you stop TRYING, and you have no way of knowing how bad things would be, if you didn't do what you ARE doing.
